Pharma giant opens 25th outlet in the state. 20 January 2006

You can’t buy a drug without a prescription from this medical shop. It also frowns on customers’ bid to go in for other drugs other than prescribed ones. “selling medicines without prescription is illegal. Substitution is also a crime as per Drugs and Cosmetics Act,” says Hemanth Bothra, director of Trust Chemists and Druggists Limited, the largest pharmacy retail chain in karnataka.
Speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of Trust’s 25th retail outlet, at vijaya Bank Layout at Bannerghatta Road, he pointed out that his chain of outlet are fully air conditioned, as majority of the medicine require cool storage conditions to maintain their quality. The Trust’s outlets don’t sell medicine without proper invoice, as it is compulsory under law to trace the origin of a drug if there are complaints about quality. It also checks the flow of spurious drugs, he pointed out.
The pharmacists work in shifts to avoid fatigue, which can affect their work. The new retail outlet at Bannerghatta Road has a multi-specialties clinic and diagnostic laboratory. Film actor Ramesh Arvind inaugurated the outlet.
